At stake for Williams is more than just another

I think maybe in the past I didn't as much. "I was one off last year, too.The world number one is the overwhelming favourite to win her seventh crown at Melbourne Park and match Graf's career Grand Slam haul, warning she is in even better form than last year, when she won three major titles.. The American has been in imperious form at the season's opening Slam, easily dispatching Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska The American will face Germany's Angelique Kerber in the final."Even though I was super-excited, I just feel like now it's even more exciting."Williams, the top seed, has a 5-1 record against Kerber and has won their last four matches, with her only loss against the German coming at Cincinnati in 2012."She will go out there to win her next Grand Slam. That's something that I'll never forget," said Williams. I must be ready to take the challenge to play against the best player right now," said the German, ahead of her first Grand Slam final. I have actually nothing to lose."I definitely block it out," she said, of her thoughts about reaching the milestone. I was just like going through the motions. If I don't win on Saturday, I'll still be one off. Both pairs are bidding to become the first doubles team to win a Grand Slam in their first major together since Vasek Pospisil and Jack Sock at Wimbledon in 2014."But still I will go out there to try to challenge her, playing good tennis.
Serena Williams will take aim at Steffi Graf's Open-era record of 22 Grand Slam titles on Saturday when she plays the Australian Open final against Germany's Angelique Kerber, who is hoping to pull off a major upset. That loss is still fresh in her memory, and she is taking nothing for granted against a player who won four tournaments last year -- and credits her new-found form to inspirational words from Graf, her fellow German. I know my practices are better. Hopefully I'm playing better," Williams said, adding that at 34 and with the clock ticking, she is making the most of every minute on court."I think I'm playing better.Brazil's Bruno Soares and his British partner Jamie Murray, brother of Andy, face off against Czech veteran Radek Stepanek and Canadian Daniel Nestor."I kind of relish every win and every final and every match now.Whoever lifts the trophy, it will be the fifth straight year there has been a different doubles champion, with America's Bryan brothers the last team to successfully defend the title in 2011."The American has been in imperious form at the season's opening Slam, easily dispatching the likes of Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska, but seventh seed Kerber believes she can spring a surprise."
She's the world number one, she's the champion, she's won everything. The American will face Germany&6 PCS RATCHET RING SPANNER SET039;s Angelique Kerber in the final."I think from then on out I've been really focused that she's someone that I really, you know, and everyone, has to take very serious. It has taken half of her lifetime to now be on the verge of equalling the German great. That was the same year Williams, aged 17, won her first Grand Slam crown at the US Open."I just remember her serving really well, her moving well, her being determined to win that. But I must play my best I can play."Block it out:At stake for Williams is more than just another Grand Slam title for her collection.Victory will put her equal with Graf's Open-era record that has stood since the German won her 22nd and last major title at the French Open in 1999."The penultimate day of action will also see a new men's # doubles champion, in a final which will immediately follow the women's title fight on Rod Laver Arena. I know that I won against her once, so I can beat her."I thought she played unbelievable in that match.

It is important for the child to have two distinct

That being said, in the past decade, there has been a gradual movement toward a culture that encourages both the parents and the child to open up, share and understand each other at a deeper level. It is important for the child to have two distinct parental figures for ideal development,” she says, summing up. While this unreels as an unusual scenario, more and more Indian families are taking baby steps to imbibe the uncomfortable parts of a conversation into their relationships. An open channel of communication goes both ways and helps the parents, too, open up to their children. 5 PCS OFFSET RATCHET RING SPANNER SET Simran agrees with the notion, “Being open and honest with my parents has made me less self-conscious. “My parents have known about these things since the very beginning,” she says.”Ranging anywhere from telling your parents about a crush to opening up about the deep-seated problems of your romantic relationship, this trend comes with the familiar hints of Western influence.Imagine this: a teenager comes home in tears, but instead of storming to her room, she opens up about her heartbreak to her mother. In fact, for many children, parents have been in the loop since the very beginning.. It’s easier for me to open up to my friends and express myself well,” she shares.. However, it goes beyond that. “Once you start talking to your parents, you also get to know them better. “I’ve always been their emotional support,” she says..Vini, a mother-of-two, notes that being accepting of her children’s romantic and sexual lives has not only made them closer, but brought about an element of trust and respect in their relationship.
Centuries ago, India was a more developed country than any other.”The parent-child dynamic is a complicated one to begin with, but introducing an element of acceptance might make it smoother. “This awakening is also inherent.” Jaideep explains. In Jaane Tu. Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan often opens up to his on-screen mother, Ratna Pathak Shah, about his love life and other issues. “The closeness seeps into other areas of my life as well. 20-year-old Simran Muchhala remembers always telling her parents about her crushes and boyfriends. They’re also dealing with this situation for the first time — it takes a bit of understanding on our side as well.Shaira Kohli, a special educator at a school, points out that while the shift in values is in synchrony with Western trends, it comes from a closer source. “And I feel comfortable telling them my problems, too. The birds and the bees have always been a matter of hush-hush in Indian households — that is, if ‘the talk’ happened in the first place.”“The change is good as long as it’s regulated and the parent is constantly educating the child on the same,” says Shaira.
“While being open is important, a parent is a parent and certain rules and regulations must be inculcated in the child.’This friendship goes on to bring parents closer to their children and, additionally, build a foundation for other emotional relationships.A forgotten aspect of this relationship is the fact that it’s a two-way street. My parents, too, appreciate the honestly and like to know more about my life. Emotionally, you’re in touch with your family, as well as yourself,” Jaideep says. It is important to know where to draw the line. “I don’t go out of my way to speak about my romantic relationships with my parents,” shares Delhi-based 24-year-old Jaideep Misra, “it’s accepted as a part of our relationship. An open, trusted dialogue about romance and sex takes the backseat in a culture that often deems it insignificant. The 21st-century presents another paradigm shift — a recent trend that sways toward parents wanting to be their children’s ‘friend. “And it makes me feel closer to them. The parent-child dynamic is a complicated one to begin with, but introducing an element of acceptance might make it smoother.

Andy Murray (Photo: AP) London: Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic may be battered and bruised but Roger Federer has handed them the blueprint to keep playing into their mid-30s — take a risk, take a break. As defending Wimbledon champion Murray hobbled to a quarter-final defeat against Sam Querrey, cursing his long-standing hip problem, and three-time winner Djokovic quit against Tomas Berdych with a right elbow injury, Federer was cruising into his 12th semi-final at the All England Club. Both world number one Murray and the struggling Djokovic hinted at taking a break from the sport but are wary of the US Open fast approaching in six weeks’ time.In contrast, Federer, who will be 36 in August, has defied the passing 4 PCS RATCHET SPANNER SET years to stand just two wins away from a record eighth Wimbledon title.“Federer is playing the best tennis ever at the age of 35 because he has got everything right in the rest of his life too,” Boris Becker told the BBC.When Federer lost to Milos Raonic in the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2016, he immediately shut down the rest of his season. It meant he missed the Rio Olympics and the US Open having already skipped the French Open after undergoing knee surgery. He finished 2016 having played just 28 matches.
While he rested up, Murray and Djokovic battled for the world number one spot. The British star ended 2016 having fought through 87 matches while Djokovic played 74 times. In 2017, Federer has featured in just seven tournaments, winning the Australian Open, Indian Wells and Miami Masters as well as the Halle grass-court title. His win loss-record is currently 29-2. He also skipped the 10-week clay-court season which culminated in Rafael Nadal strolling to a 10th Roland Garros title.Murray has already taken part in 11 events this year with a win-loss ratio of 25-10.Djokovic, down at four in the world rankings, his lowest since 2009, has slugged through 12 tournaments, including two trips to the Davis Cup.He has 33 wins on the season and eight losses.Federer believes he has found the perfect balance, playing at the right times and resting when required.“Once you hit 30, you’ve got to look back and think of how much tennis have I played, how much rest did I give my body over the years, how much training have I done, did I do enough, did I overdo it or not enough,” he explained.“It’s always calibrating the whole thing. For me it worked out. Sometimes the body and the mind do need a rest.”
Becker believes Murray and Djokovic, both 30, need to think long-term just like Federer.Grand Slam results this year bear him out. At the Australian Open, Murray exited at the fourth round stage before making a run to the French Open semis.Djokovic, who held all four majors when he clinched the 2016 French Open, was a second round loser in Melbourne and a quarter-finalist at Roland Garros.“Maybe that is a lesson learned for Andy and Novak to really take care of their bodies — take their time and get healthy, and don’t play when they can’t,” added Becker.“Andy has got to think long-term, not worry about making the US Open — if he is moving there like he did at Wimbledon, then he won’t win it anyway.“So, the worst thing that can happen if he skips New York is that he misses one Grand Slam — that doesn’t matter, because the Australian Open is around the corner at the start of 2018.“The Tour is a gruelling schedule and I would give the same advice to Novak too — rest.”

The 23-year-old Thiem will face nine-time French

A year ago, Novak Djokovic became the first man to claim a fourth consecutive major championship and completed a career Grand Slam. The 23-year-old Dominic Thiem will face nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal next.(Photo: AP) Paris: Novak Djokovic&13 PCS FLEXIBLE RATCHET SPANNER SET39;s French Open title defense ended with a surprisingly lopsided 7-6 (7-5), 6-3, 6-0 quarterfinal loss to sixth-seeded Dominic Thiem of Austria on Wednesday.A year ago, Djokovic became the first man in nearly half a century to claim a fourth consecutive major championship and completed a career Grand Slam at Roland Garros. But his form has dipped considerably since then, and now he has gone four majors in a row without earning a trophy."It's a fact that I'm not playing close to my best," Djokovic said. "This is a whole new situation that I'm feeling."On Wednesday at a windy Court Suzanne Lenglen, Djokovic was out of sorts in so many ways, even before that 20-minute third set in which he won only 8 of 34 points. That was only the second time that Djokovic lost a final set by the score of 6-0 in his 937 career tour-level matches."It was not there for me today," Djokovic said with a sigh.He wasted two set points in the opener. By the end of the match, he wound up with nearly twice as many unforced errors, 35, as winners, 18. His backhand was particularly problematic.
Known for tremendous footwork and court coverage, the No. 2-seeded Serb even stumbled and tumbled to the court, his racket flying out of his hands, early in the second set. Djokovic was left on his knees, and soon he would be out of the tournament entirely."All in all, it was decided, I think, in the first set ", said Djokovic. How unlikely was this result? Djokovic entered the day having won all five previous matches - and 11 of 12 sets - against Thiem, including in the French Open semifinals a year ago."It's amazing for me," Thiem said. "To beat him for the first time in the quarters of the French Open is a dream."Plus, Djokovic had appeared in a record six consecutive semifinals in Paris. But this continued what has become something of a 12-month downward slide for him since he finally grabbed ahold of the French Open championship he had so long sought.Since then, though, the highlight for Djokovic was a runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. Otherwise, he lost his No. 1 ranking to Andy Murray and lost in the third round of Wimbledon, the first round of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, and the second round of the Australian Open.Along the way, he split with one of his coaches, Boris Becker, and then his other, Marian Vajda, along with other members of his entourage. Djokovic enlisted Andre Agassi for coaching help during Week 1 of # the French Open, but Agassi had some prior commitments and so was gone by the time Djokovic faced Thiem.
The 23-year-old Thiem will face nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal next."You have to play the best guys round after round," Thiem said. "It's not getting easier on Friday."The other men's quarterfinals scheduled for later Wednesday: 2016 runner-up Murray vs. No. 8 Kei Nishikori, and 2015 champion Stan Wawrinka vs. No. 7 Marin Cilic.Thiem is a talented, up-and-coming player, to be sure, and he is the only man to beat Nadal in the Spaniard's 23 matches on clay in 2017. That came in the quarterfinals of the Italian Open last month.Earlier Wednesday, Nadal reached his record 10th French Open semifinal when No. 20 Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain retired from their match early in the second set because of an injured abdominal muscle he said began bothering him on a serve at 5-2 in the first.Nadal led 6-2, 2-0 when Carreno Busta stopped.Nadal has dropped only 22 games so far in the tournament, the fewest he has lost on the way to any of his 26 Grand Slam semifinal berths."I don't know how many games I lost this year, but I really don't care about this, no?" Nadal said. "I only care that I am in the semifinals."

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Thursday that he stands ready to send police to Belarus if protests there turn violent, but sees no such need yet. However, the technicalities involved in legally finalizing the list won&Hex Ratchet Socket Wrench39;t be concluded for at least another week. (AP) Berlin: The European Union has agreed to impose sanctions on up to 20 senior Belarus officials suspected of election fraud and the crackdown on protesters and is likely to put President Alexander Lukashenko on its list at some point, the bloc's foreign ministers said Friday.Belarus' opposition says the poll was rigged and the EU, among others, disputes the results Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko armed with a Kalashnikov-type rifle near the Palace of Independence in Minsk, Belarus.Greece and Cyprus are also believed to be demanding that sanctions be slapped on Turkey for what they say is its illegal energy exploration in the eastern Mediterranean before the two countries agree to the measures against Belarus.
Lithuania had tabled its own list of 118 officials. Linkevicius said that “we cannot exclude this invasion,” and that the EU must also send a clear warning to Russia.Asked whether the Belarus president will be hit by a travel ban and asset freeze, Petricek said he believes that “Lukashenko should be on the list.At least three protesters died. The question is whether in the first stage, or a later stage if there is no progress.”Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius agreed that Lukashenko should be on the list now, but he acknowledged that there may be “tactical reasons” to keep the Belarus leader off. Around 180 people were detained at rallies on Thursday. Some countries prefer a gradual approach that would ratchet up pressure by adding more names progressively if Lukashenko failed to enter into talks with the opposition.Belarus' authoritarian president of 26 years has faced weeks of protests since he was re-elected to a sixth term on August 9 with 80 per cent of the vote. The opposition says the poll was # rigged and the EU, among others, disputes the results. In the first four days of demonstrations that followed, Belarus security forces detained almost 7,000 people and injured hundreds with rubber bullets, stun grenades and clubs.“We have general agreement on how the list will be structured and who will be, more or less, on the list,” Czech Republic Foreign Minister Tomas Petricek told reporters at a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Berlin.
